Who Am I?

Who Am I?

I am a child of the living God!

Really let that sink in…

I am a child of the living God!

What does that mean?

9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God. John 1:9-13, NIV

We are no longer lost people. He has paid a ransom for our lives and we are saved by His blood. God is our Father!

He is no longer someone that our earthly parents tell us to believe in. He is our Father!

We are His children!

We were once lost and now we are found.

We Were Lost and Now We Are Found

The song Amazing Grace includes this message in the line, “I once was lost but now am found…” (hymnal.net)

God is not only our Father, but He guides us with His light.

Can we still be afraid of the dark?

Yes, because when we are or were afraid of the light, we were afraid of God.

This is not the same as the fear of the Lord.

The difference is when we are afraid of the Lord, we desire to live in darkness and avoid Him because He is the light.

When we fear the Lord, we are showing reverence for the Lord. We are walking in His wisdom and He will protect us.

1 My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you,2 turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding—3 indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding,4 and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure,5 then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.6 For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.7 He holds success in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,8 for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones.9 Then you will understand what is right and just and fair—every good path.10 For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.11 Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you. Proverbs 2:1-11, NIV

He will share with us His knowledge and His understanding so that we can share this with others.

He gives His children success and draws them near to Him.

When we call out for His insight, He gives it.

His Straight Path

He makes our pathway straight and guides us to His loving arms.

This sounds like all the things we desire from our earthly mother and father, and most try to share their love with us, but God our Father always shows His love to His children.

We simply desire to find His justice here on earth.

This reminds me of these verses…

9 The Lord will be king over the whole earth. On that day there will be one Lord, and his name the only name. Zechariah 14:9, NIV

15 The seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, which said:“The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Messiah, and he will reign for ever and ever.” Revelation 11:15, NIV

Since we are His children, we should obey Him. Since He is our Father, we inherit heaven from Him through Christ Jesus.

11 In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, 12 in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. 13 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.15 For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God’s people, 16 I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. 17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. 18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength 20 he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, 21 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. 22 And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way. Ephesians 1:11-23, NIV

He chose us to be His children.

What an honor?!

Jesus chose to die to bring about our inheritance into heaven.

What an honor?!

He rose Jesus from the dead to be seated at His right hand and we will be risen on His day of glory to spend eternity in His presence.

We must obey Him, praise Him, and share Him with the world.
